Ellen conducts presentations at Texas PTA Summer Leadership Seminar

Texas PTA held its annual summer leadership seminar in Austin this weekend.  This is the signature event of Texas PTA bringing members from all over the state to participate in workshops designed to make their local PTA’s more successful.

Ellen presented a seminar on the State Board of Education — its importance to parents and students and a seminar on how PTA members can be successful advocates.

During the last Texas Legislature Arnold Public Affairs assisted its client, the Texas Parent Teacher Association, in passing legislation to require children all children under the age of 8 and under 4 feet, 9 inches tall to be in child safety seats when traveling in motor vehicles.

The statistics and studies overwhelmingly show that children not traveling in safety seats are more likely to suffer injuries or die in motor vehicle accidents .Under the previous law, safety seats were required only for children under age 5 and under 36 inches in height.

Ellen Receives Lifetime Honorary PTA Membership

Ellen received a lifetime honorary membership from the Texas Parent Teachers Association (PTA) for her work on behalf of PTA over the last five years.

In receiving the award, Jan Wilkerson, immediate past president of Texas PTA, said at the annual state convention, “Ellen Arnold is a rare jewel and has certainly been one of the best things that has ever happened to Texas PTA.  She has made it easy to work for kids at the Capital.”
